Cannot believe it. You got me through a very difficult time in my life mate and I will never be able to repay your friendship and never forget you mate. You were one of a kind.

I still remember Sean from my Nipper days. Always out there in the orange cap, covered in an inch-thick layer of zinc, keeping an eye on us and somehow managing to keep everyone relaxed and laughing at the same time. A lot of parents stayed out the back if they volunteered at all, but not Sean he started and finished the race with us. He always had time for the ones hanging at the back of the pack, like me, and he seemed to understand it wasnโ€™t ability we were lacking, just a bit of confidence.

When I got older and joined my dadโ€™s surf patrol, Sean was still there. He had this mild, good naturedly mutinous streak, always calling my dad โ€œCaptainโ€ in that ironic way, and knew exactly how to push just the right buttons to loosen everyone up without ever taking it too far. He was the perfect barrier between the boring old men and the rest of us, the one who made surf patrol something you wanted to turn up to, not just an obligation.

One of my favourite memories was when Dad showed up in his brand new army camouflage beige budgie smugglers, and Sean somehow convinced everyone on patrol to act like Dad was invisible. That joke lasted years

He also had this great knack for remembering people, even if you hadnโ€™t seen him in years, heโ€™d pick up the conversation like it was yesterday. For all the jokes, he was incredibly observant and always seemed to notice how everyone was really doing, not just the kids. Heโ€™ll be very missed.

Still shocked by Sean's passing. Sean was one of my favourite people in Coffs. I looked forward to playing golf with him and enjoyed our banter. He was a real character and a genuinely great bloke with wicked sense of humour. He certainly knew how to pull me out of a depressive mood.
RIP mate, you'll be missed greatly.
Condolences to the family and friends.
